2018 President announced

We are delighted to announce that Ted Allen has agreed to be nominated as President Elect for the year commencing March 2018.

Mr Edward (Ted) J Allen Esq DL

Edward (Ted) Allen was born at Butleigh in Somerset and after Schooling at Wells and Bristol joined the former Bristol Constabulary, just prior to the amalgamation into the Avon & Somerset Police.

He served in the police for over 31years with a number of high profile roles across the policing area culminating in his last seven years in charge of the large geographical command of East Somerset, with the rank of Chief Superintendent.

After the Police he took up the post of Director of a national maritime youth charity based initially at HMS FLYING FOX in Bristol and then in Lambeth, London. Then in 2008 he went on to become Chief Exec of a medical and child welfare charity operating in Western Kenya.

Now, although retired, amongst a wide range of voluntary roles he is the Independent Chairman of the Diocese of Bath & Wells Safeguarding Panel, Chair of Governors of a Federation of Schools, a member of Council of the Royal Bath & West Society and is Chief Steward for the annual RB&W Show.

He was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of Somerset in 2009.

Married to Pat, they live in the family home in Stoney Stratton near Evercreech and have two married sons, Jonathan an airline pilot with EasyJet based at Gatwick and Nigel, a screen and stage actor, who lives in Bermondsey, London.

We look forward to welcoming Mr Allen to the Society in 2018.
