The Mid-Somerset Show Society held its 2026 Annual General Meeting on Monday 9th March at the Mendip Golf Club. The evening was well supported, and we are grateful to the members, stewards, and sponsors who attended.
Chairman Graham Walton opened proceedings and expressed his pleasure in introducing the Society’s newly elected Vice Chairman, Ed Freely. We look forward to Ed’s contribution and wish him a long and successful tenure as part of the committee.
A particularly special moment of the evening was the recognition of one of the Show’s longest-standing supporters, Roger Noble. With over 65 years of dedicated involvement, Roger’s journey began in a small role as a teenager and has since spanned a wide variety of responsibilities. In more recent years, he has been best known for his role escorting the Show President throughout the event. Graham extended the Society’s sincere thanks to Roger for his remarkable dedication and commitment. While he is stepping down from his presidential liaison duties, we are pleased that Roger will continue to play an active role as part of the Sponsorship Committee.
The AGM also marked a fond farewell to the 2025/26 President, Mark Bagwell. Mark has been a marvellous addition to the Show, making a significant impact, particularly within the Sponsorship Committee. In recognition of his efforts, we are delighted that he has accepted an invitation to remain involved as a permanent member of that committee.
Looking ahead, we warmly welcomed the new President for 2026/27, Nicky Barber of Barber’s Cheesemakers in Ditcheat. The Show has long enjoyed a close affiliation with the Barber family, and we are excited to continue this relationship. We extend our very best wishes to Nicky for a successful and enjoyable term as President.
