⚠️EQUINE FLU UPDATE⚠️
Following further consultation with our equine veterinary advisor and the Show Committee, we have updated our Equine Influenza vaccination requirements. It is now compulsory for all equines attending the Mid-Somerset Show, whether competing or taking part in displays, to have up-to-date Equine Influenza vaccinations.
As a minimum Equines must have completed their primary vaccination course, consisting of the following
– 1st Vaccination (V1): The initial injection administered on Day 0
– 2nd Vaccination (V2): Given 21 to 60 days after V1
Further vaccinations should be administered as follows:
– 3rd Vaccination (V3): Given 120 to 180 days (4 to 6 months) after V2.
– Annual Boosters: Must be administered within 365 days of the previous vaccination. The booster cannot be given later than the date of the previous year’s injection
– Vaccinations should not be given within 7 days of the event. Please note that the day of vaccination is counted as Day 0, with the following day being Day 1.
All equine passports will be checked on arrival. Any person unable to provide the required vaccination information will unfortunately be asked to leave the showground. Please do not unload your animals until your passports have been inspected and approved. Finally, if your equine, or any other equines in the vicinity of your yard, stables or field, are showing signs of illness, please do not attend the show. Refunds will be issued upon receipt of a valid veterinary certificate confirming illness or injury.
