Annual competition
Due to the on-going Coronovirus pandemic and current lock down it has been decided to cancel the 2021 competition. We look forward to seeing you in 2022.
Our annual hedgelaying competition is held each year on the third Sunday in February by kind permission of local land owners, and has become an established and well supported event in the Society’s calendar.
We have both Open and Amateur classes with all competitors using the Mendip/North Somerset Style. It is a great opportunity for the experienced to showcase their skills and the inexperienced to practice and have-ago.
Our annual tractor run and Land Rover meet are also held at this event. All vehicles need to be pre-entered. No entries taken on the day.
Gaining in popularity
This ancient craft is currently experiencing resurgence in interest and popularity; a machine cannot replicate a highly skilled hedgelayer.
Cash prizes for both classes are awarded and cutting money paid to all entrants.
